About Our Club

Welcome to Teddington Swimming Club’s website

The club was founded in 1978 when the old open air pool in Teddington was modernised and reopened as a well-equipped indoor pool. We celebrated our 25th Anniversary in June 2003 with an exciting gala against other local clubs and a family barbecue at Hampton Open Air Pool. A group photograph was taken to mark the anniversary.

You can read about these events and our other activities on the web pages using the links provided.Teddington Swimming Club provides a wide variety of swimming activities including;

  • teaching young children to swim
  • providing improvement classes for older children
  • competitive swimming through age group, individual and team competitions
  • masters swimming
  • open water long distance swimming
  • land training

The club has about 400 swimming members and a number of associate members. Swimmers ages range from 6 to 60+. Most of our sessions are held at Teddington Pool, with additional sessions at Pools on the Park (Richmond), St Catherine's School (Twickenham), Lady Eleanor Holles (Hampton) and the Airparks (Feltham). In addition the club holds Long Course training on a Sunday (Usually twice a month) at Aldershot Garrison Pool

The Club is managed by a Committee of volunteers, mainly swimmers and their parents, and employs qualified swimming coaches to direct the swimming programme. Our Chief Coach, Carol Butler, is also the Richmond Borough Swimming Coach, so our swimmers are able to benefit from extra training sessions offered by Richmond Borough Council. Our Elite swimmers represent Richmond at the London Inter-Borough Championships and the London Youth Games.

We like to think of ourselves as a friendly club, and always welcome enquiries from prospective members. Just e-mail us at TeddingtonSC@aol.com or use the Membership Enquiries button on the front page of this website
